About The Position

The Department of Political Science and International Studies at the University of North Texas (UNT) is seeking a Lecturer (Continuing) specializing in Political Theory and American Politics. This role involves teaching core undergraduate courses in American politics, including US Political Behavior and Policy, and US and Texas Constitutions and Institutions. The faculty member will also teach courses related to political theory. Additionally, the position will contribute to the development of a Civic Education and Civil Discourse program aimed at training local high school teachers in civic and communication skills, and will assist with the university's pre-law program. The department is known for its commitment to teaching and research excellence, offering BA, MA, and PhD degrees, and houses several specialized programs and institutes.

Requirements

• Ph.D. (or ABD) in Political Science (or related field).
• Well-grounded in the history of political philosophy and focuses on the great themes and issues of political thought: justice, liberty, morality, religion and its relation to politics and human nature.
• Meets the performance expectations related to the workload outlined in UNT Policy 06.005.

Responsibilities

• Teach PSCI 2305 - US Political Behavior and Policy.
• Teach PSCI 2306 - US and Texas Constitutions and Institutions.
• Teach courses related to political theory.
• Contribute to developing the Civic Education and Civil Discourse program.
• Assist with the pre-law program.
