About The Position

The Department of Energy and Petroleum Engineering seeks a full-time Academic Lecturer to support undergraduate and graduate education in petroleum, energy, and related engineering disciplines. The successful candidate will contribute primarily through teaching, student mentoring, curriculum development, and service activities that support the department’s educational mission. This is a non-tenure track Academic Lecturer position with a multi-year appointment subject to performance and funding. Primary responsibilities focus on teaching and service, with an expected teaching load of 15 credit hours per academic year.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Energy Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated teaching, training, or industry experience relevant to energy and petroleum engineering.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Applicants must include the average hours worked per week for all current and previous positions. Failure to provide this information may affect the evaluation of qualifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Industry experience in upstream, midstream, energy transition, geothermal, CCUS, hydrogen, drilling, production, reservoir engineering, or related fields.
  • Previous university-level teaching experience.
  • Experience with online course delivery.
  • Experience supervising student projects and capstone design teams.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Energy and Petroleum Engineering.
  • Deliver instruction in classroom, laboratory, hybrid, and online formats.
  • Develop and update course materials to align with industry needs and accreditation requirements.
  • Participate in assessment and continuous improvement activities associated with ABET accreditation.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and program enhancement initiatives.
  • Support senior design projects and experiential learning activities.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities.
  • Collaborate with faculty and industry partners to maintain curriculum relevance.
  • Assist with student recruitment, retention, and outreach efforts.
