About The Position

St. Michael’s Hospital, a fully-affiliated University of Toronto teaching and research institution and a site of Unity Health Toronto, is seeking to recruit a full-time Clinician-Teacher for its Mental Health and Addictions Service. This role focuses on providing Interventional Psychiatry care within a diverse and often vulnerable patient population. The hospital and department are committed to accessible, equitable, inclusive, and anti-racist healthcare. Services for people who use drugs are a key component of the work. The successful candidate will be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the University of Toronto at the Lecturer or Assistant Professor level. The position involves providing Interventional Psychiatry care, including rTMS and ECT, and participating in research and education initiatives. The role also includes general psychiatric care and on-call responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Eligible for full-time clinical academic appointment at the University of Toronto at the level of Lecturer or Assistant Professor.
  • Hold a Medical Degree.
  • Hold or be eligible for certification in Psychiatry by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Have or be eligible for independent licensure in Ontario.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Interventional Psychiatry care, including rTMS and ECT.
  • Provide clinical assessment and care for patients with complex, treatment-resistant depression.
  • Participate in research initiatives and collaboration with scientists and inter-departmental colleagues.
  • Lead education for learners and contribute to continuing professional development for colleagues.
  • Participate in the Ambulatory Psychiatry Division and general psychiatric care.
  • Provide Psychiatry on-call service.
  • Provide clinical supervision for learners.
  • Oversee exams for learners.
  • Teach seminars.
  • Participate in educational requirements for the University of Toronto's Undergraduate Medical Education and Postgraduate Medical Education curricula.

Benefits

  • Remuneration expected to exceed $200,000 per annum based on fees for service, available sessional and stipends.
