About The Position

The Leave of Absence Specialist is the primary point of contact for employees navigating a Leave of Absence. In this role you will serve as a subject-matter expert to employees, managers and Human Resources regarding leave policies, eligibility, documentation and return to work requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree, or an equivalent combination of education/experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing employee leave programs in a multi-state organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Working Knowledge of FMLA, ADA and applicable state and local leave requirements.
  • Motivated self-starter.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a shared services, helpdesk or customer support environment is preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the leave of absence process from initial inquiry through approval, extensions, intermittent leave and return to work.
  • Educate employees on leave programs including Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Short-Term Disability, Parental, and Military leaves along with state specific programs.
  • Partners with disability leave vendor, monitoring cases, ensure appropriate follow up and timely case processing.
  • Coordinate with HR Business Parters for complex accommodation and return to work cases.
  • Manage leave-related payroll and benefits activities including premium payment, benefit continuation, paid time off usage and employee status updates.
  • Ensure accurate HRIS and payroll transactions related to Leave.
  • Manage workers’ compensation leaves from initial reporting through claim closure.
  • Coordinate claim filing, drug screening requirements, lost time tracking and return-to-work activities.
  • Partner with Carriers, adjustors and CBX Safety Department to facilitate claim management and accurate reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state and local leave regulations.
  • Develop and maintain leave of absence policies, procedures and process documentation.
  • Generate and analyze reports related to leave utilization, claim activity and compliance metrics.
  • Other duties as assigned.
