In order to support our 3000+ employees, this position will sit in the below county locations: Aurora two (2) days per week, Centennial two (2) days per week, and Littleton one (1) day per week. Core hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with the flexibility to assist employees with different shifts.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to leaves and disability plans.
  • Strong administrative and data management skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong computer skills’ proficient in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Ability to support employees with confidentiality and compassion during stressful times.
  • Ability to provide customer service concerning leave and disability policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information and safeguard all documents pertaining to confidential information.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Two or more years of leave and disability administration experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job may be sufficient.

  • Technical proficiency in AbsenceSoft or other Leave/ADA platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Coaches and advises employees, management, and HR team members on leave and accommodation processes, legal requirements, and County policies.
  • Assesses, adjudicates, and tracks all leave and disability claims in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Administers the full ADA interactive process for employees and applicants, ensuring timely, well‑documented, and compliant evaluation of accommodation requests.
  • Collaborates closely with Legal, HR Managers/HRBPs, Benefits, Payroll, Risk Management, Mental Health Professionals, and disability carriers to coordinate leave extensions, accommodation considerations, workers’ compensation cases, and fit‑for‑duty evaluations.
  • Reviews and interprets medical certifications and supporting documentation to determine employee eligibility and appropriate designation under FMLA and other statutory leave programs.
  • Works with Department Directors on non‑qualifying FMLA and personal leave requests, ensuring consistent and policy‑aligned decisions.
  • Produces, sends, and tracks required leave and accommodation documentation; communicates rights, responsibilities, timelines, and next steps to employees and managers.
  • Maintains accurate, timely records in the leave and accommodation system, ensuring HRIS data integrity for compliance, reporting, and audit activities.
  • Supports return‑to‑work and fitness‑for‑duty processes, including coordination of modified duty when appropriate.
  • Identifies compliance risks and process improvement opportunities within leave and accommodation programs.
  • Assists with development of training, communication materials, and guidance related to leave and ADA programs.
  • Performs other job‑related duties as required.
