About The Position

Responsible for the safe and efficient operations, monitoring and maintenance preparation of wells, processing units and related facilities. This position requires a strong focus on oil, gas and water separation facilities operations along with major utilities and secondary expertise in all operations. This is a large project, which includes not only on-site facility start-up but also utilization of operating tools, procedures, work-permitting and training. Candidates with experience in new facilities startup and operations are very desirable.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Must be able and willing to work a rotating shift.
  • Must be available for callout as situations dictate.
  • Ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to maintain, operate and repair surface equipment associated with oil & gas production.
  • Computer proficient with good written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be physically able to lift more than 50 lbs. and climb ladders/stairways.
  • Must be able to use a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and other safety detectors and equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • 5–10 years of demonstrated prior relevant work experience preferred.
  • Candidates with experience in new facilities startup and operations are very desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for personal safety and the safety of co-workers. Follows and enforces all safety rules.
  • Primary operations contact for their facilities. Understands process flow, basic chemistry associated with unit, major line-ups and all unit safety equipment, including isolation points.
  • Reviews computer data and computer-generated schematics to ensure process is optimized.
  • Physically inspects and monitors equipment and/or the work area to ensure correct operation.
  • Issues Safe Work Permits and evaluates operating conditions and chemical, personnel and process-safety risks.
  • Performs gas testing as necessary to ensure operating areas are safe for maintenance activities.
  • Gauges tanks, reads meters, accurately records data, takes product samples and monitors differential pressure and chemical injection rates.
  • Checks for leaks, freezing, overheating and other abnormal operating conditions.
  • Performs visual maintenance by checking temperature, pressure, level, flow rate and vibration.
  • Adjusts local process parameters to maintain product specifications within their optimal operating window.
  • Keeps company vehicle maintained and in good working condition.
  • Coordinates oil sales and saltwater hauling as necessary.
  • Maintains accurate electronic or paper gauge sheets and documents reasons for production changes.
  • Checks control valve positions to ensure valves are correctly positioned.
  • Performs basic equipment maintenance including adding lube oil/water, tightening valve packing, changing filters and steam traps and clearing equipment.
  • Communicates with Production Foreman regarding existing process conditions and any changes made or needed.
  • Performs winterization and summerization of equipment for maximum equipment efficiency.
  • Monitors field equipment using electronic test equipment, handheld monitors and computer monitoring equipment.
  • Inspects safety valves, fire extinguishers, fire hoses, breathing apparatus and other safety equipment.
  • Participates in continuous improvement of all aspects of assigned work.
  • Follows environmental policies and procedures and works to eliminate or minimize flaring, emissions, oil spills and other environmental impacts.
  • Understands and follows all working rules and continuously improves job knowledge and skills.
  • Demonstrates reliable attendance, works independently where appropriate and supports team objectives.
