About The Position

The Lease Accountant assists in maintaining lease schedules, reconciling operating expenses with landlords, and supporting additional month-end closing processes. The role prepares accounting schedules and entries, reviews lease-related billing, contributes to financial reporting and close activities, and partners with the Real Estate and Construction team. The position also researches technical accounting issues and prepares reports and documentation for management and financial statements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Accounting, or a related field, or four years of equivalent work experience.
• Two years of relevant work experience in addition to the degree or equivalent prior experience.
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel, including V-lookups, formulas, filtering, sorting, and formatting.
• Intermediate proficiency in the MS Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Basic understanding of financial management applications such as PeopleSoft.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accounting schedules according to lease and amendment terms.
• Review and reconcile rent and operating expense billing from property managers, identifying and resolving billing disputes.
• Assist with the monthly close process and prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information.
• Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries and accruals.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly.
• Prepare supporting documentation for financial statements.
• Work closely with and partner with the Real Estate and Construction team.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for management.
• Research technical accounting issues and provide conclusions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
