About The Position

Manage caseload of student athletes with documented learning exceptionalities or deemed academically at-risk based on prescreening assessments and/or academic history. Caseload support will include individual and group sessions to instruct students in evidence-based learning strategies and self-advocacy skills, as well as providing intensive academic support. Administer academic prescreening assessments, mediate scheduling for academic evaluations, and assist in providing documentation for NCAA waivers or UNM admissions. Serve as a liaison to UNM’s Accessibility Resource Center and collaborate with advising staff to design and implement individualized academic success plans. Coordinate and facilitate course and professor-specific review sessions, assist in developing programs to improve retention and graduation rates, and facilitate training for tutors. Support programming offered by summer and fall sections of UNM’s Athletic Department. Provide written reports to academic advisors, supervisor, and unit director. Provide educational programming for student-athletes with academic integrity concerns and maintain a confidential, professional environment for students with detailed files.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide written reports to academic advisors, supervisor, and unit director regarding assigned caseload, pre-screening information summaries, recommended programming, and other miscellaneous information.
  • Provide educational programming for any student-athlete with academic integrity concerns.
  • Maintain a confidential, professional environment for students, including the maintenance and upkeep of confidential, detailed files on all assigned student-athletes.
