This is a 10-month, part-time position, 20 hours per week, with hours from Monday to Friday, 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM. The Learning Guide Instructor supports the Earthworks Afterschool Program Coordinator in executing and enhancing a comprehensive, activity-based enrichment and academic support program at School 33. This role is instrumental in delivering high-quality, nature-based learning experiences to participating youth. The Learning Guide Instructor is responsible for facilitating engaging activities, educational workshops, and group sessions that align with the program's environmental and academic objectives. This position plays a key role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and hands-on learning environment. The Learning Guide Instructor reports directly to the Earthworks Afterschool Program Coordinator. Earthworks Programs at the Center for Youth are not seeking a typical outdoor educator. We are seeking gregarious, enterprising individuals who know how to make the most epic outdoor experiences within even the most mundane of environments. Our unique approach to education fosters a meaningful connection to the outdoors through nature awareness, primitive skills, curiosity, community and the mystery of the natural world. Youth in grades K-6 will join us for the experience of "running wild." This program will create the adventure no matter where we find ourselves – gathering resources, crafting tools, navigating the landscape, mastering epic games and challenges, together. Instructors will help craft our nature-based programs, facilitate positive group energy, and keep kids safe and engaged.
