This role partners with the Learning Team and company leaders to identify capability gaps, build programs to close them, and measure their effectiveness. The scope includes frontline retail onboarding, leadership development, and scalable digital e-learning initiatives. The designer will collaborate with HR, business leaders, and subject matter experts to create curriculum that reflects Skechers' operational style. This position is for an individual who designs with intention, values the craft of instructional design, and believes in the business impact of well-made learning experiences.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years in learning and development, with hands-on experience designing, building, and delivering both instructor-led and digital training.
  • Portfolio showcasing instructional craft, not just facilitation history.
  • Retail, hospitality, or service industry experience.
  • Proficiency in Articulate.
  • Working knowledge of Canva, LMS platforms, and basic HTML/CSS.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong writing skills, including experience writing in a brand voice.
  • Confidence to work consultatively at every level.
  • Resourceful, results-driven work style with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to bring structure to ambiguity and follow through without needing to be chased.

Nice To Haves

  • First-hand design experience for retail environments including product knowledge, client experience, leadership, and operations.
  • Certifications in Instructional Design, Design Thinking, or Kirkpatrick Measurement.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct structured assessments to identify performance, skill, and knowledge gaps across the organization.
  • Build programs and courses for audiences ranging from individual contributors to senior leaders.
  • Partner with internal subject matter experts and external vendors to transform complex knowledge into clear, engaging experiences across instructor-led, digital, and blended formats.
  • Develop e-learnings, design assets in Canva, and troubleshoot web-based modules independently.
  • Manage ongoing initiatives including onboarding, leadership, and skills development, requiring consistent coordination, iteration, and connection to talent planning.
  • Establish evaluation methods for content, delivery, engagement, and outcomes, using performance metrics to validate knowledge transfer and ROI.
  • Deliver training sessions as needed, demonstrating the ability to hold a room and adjust content when necessary.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to surface needs, recommend solutions, and facilitate their deployment.

Benefits

  • Equal employment opportunities for all employees and applicants for employment without regard race, color, religion, gender, gender identification and expression, national origin, marital status, age, disability, genetic information, military status, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic established by local, state or federal law.
  • Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities, who are otherwise qualified for the job position, to perform the essential functions.
