About The Position

As a Learning Environment Specialist, you'll support schools across the country to translate their instructional goals into spaces filled with furniture and materials where children can explore, grow, and thrive. Working from blueprints to finished floor plans, you'll connect educators' needs with Lakeshore's deep knowledge of early learning and K–12 environments, turning square footage into places where great teaching happens.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in classroom teaching, curriculum development, or a closely related educational role.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints or floor plans, or equivalent experience with space planning in an educational context.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat; comfort learning design or specification software such as CAP/CET Designer.
Bachelor's degree in education, interior design, environmental design, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
Ability to work remotely and independently, managing multiple project requests simultaneously with strong follow-through.

Nice To Haves

Hands-on experience with space planning, furniture specification, or learning environment design.
Familiarity with Lakeshore's early learning or K–12 product lines.
You think spatially — you can look at a blueprint and immediately start imagining how children will move through and use the space.
You shift registers easily, presenting the same design rationale to a kindergarten teacher and a district facilities director without losing either one.
You treat feedback as design input, not pushback — and your plans get better because of it
You manage a queue of active projects without dropping threads, and you flag issues early rather than hoping they resolve themselves.

Responsibilities

Review education spaces request end-to-end — reading blueprints, interpreting enrollment and program needs, and developing 2-D and 3-D plans that meet aesthetic and functional needs.
Select furniture, storage, carpets, and supplemental materials for indoor and outdoor classroom environments, balancing developmental best practices with real-world budget and space constraints.
Produce clear drawings, renderings, and design deliverables that communicate your intent to educators, administrators, and internal teams without needing translation.
Apply knowledge of early learning and K–12 curricula and standards to ensure every space recommendation supports diverse learners and aligns with how teachers actually teach.
Partner with colleagues to present Lakeshore's vision to school stakeholders, fielding questions thoughtfully and representing our approach with confidence and care.
