About The Position

The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education (TCRCE) is seeking a Learning Disabilities Teacher (LDT) for a permanent position. This role involves providing supportive educational services to students with diagnosed learning disabilities. The LDT will be part of the Student Services team, assisting students, families, and school staff with interpreting assessment results, developing academic and social programming, fostering self-advocacy skills, and managing transitioning requirements.

Ability to maintain a healthy and positive perspective on change and support others in the change process.
Ability to work and communicate effectively within the Regional Centre with students, parents/guardians, and community groups.
Ability to demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to apply knowledge, experience, and commitment in the area of race relations, cross cultural understanding, human rights, diversity and culturally relevant pedagogy.
Master of Education with a special education concentration and/or Master of Literacy Instruction.
Qualified Level B Assessor.
Professional Development training in the area of Learning Disabilities.
Training in mentorship and or coaching.
Experience administering and interpreting Level B Assessments.
Experience as a Learning Support Teacher.
Experience providing professional development to small and large groups.
Experience providing support to school staff in the form of contributions to program plans and classroom implementation of strategies.
Experience utilizing and recommending assistive technology for student use.
5 Years of successful experience as a classroom teacher.

Responsibilities

Provide appropriate supportive educational services to students with diagnosed learning disabilities.
Support students, families, and school-based staff in interpreting assessment results.
Assist in developing appropriate academic and social programming.
Help students develop self-advocacy skills.
Support transitioning requirements for students.
Work in classrooms with teachers and students supporting inclusive practices.
Provide leadership for professional development in the area of literacy and learning disabilities.
Attend ongoing professional development provided by the region.
Provide coaching to teachers on best practices and supports at TIER 1, 2 and 3.
Work in classrooms with teachers and students to support literacy development and independent learning for students.
Provide direct intervention support to students as determined through program planning.
Provide transitional and advocacy support for students diagnosed with a learning disability.
Communicate results, plan, and implement actions for improvement.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Student Services in conjunction with school administration.
