About The Position

The Oregon Military Department is a state agency that supports the Oregon National Guard. You are NOT required to be a member of the Oregon National Guard to apply for this position. The Oregon Military Department is recruiting for a Learning & Development Specialist 1. This is a permanent full-time state position located within the STARBASE Program Home | Starbase Oregon at the Rees Training Center in Hermiston, Oregon. This position is represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees’ (AFSCME) union. NOTE: This recruitment announcement will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur. Requirements

  • Three (3) years of work experience planning, organizing, or delivering employee training programs, adult learning programs, youth instructional programs, or group presentations. Experience must demonstrate the application of the principles and practices of learning, OR
  • A bachelor's degree in Education, Organizational Psychology, Business or Public Administration, Training and Development, Organizational Behavior, Human Resources, or related field.
  • OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have and maintain a favorable criminal background check.
  • Employees are required to maintain a drug/alcohol free workplace in accordance with OMD Drug/Alcohol CPM’s, Policies, and the Statewide Drug Free Workplace Policy 50-000-01.
  • The successful candidate for this position will be subject to a fingerprint-based background and abuse check.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S without a visa sponsorship. (Applicants who require visa sponsorship will not be considered at this time).

Responsibilities

  • Provide motivational hands-on, experiential instruction to students in compliance with the DoD STARBASE mandated curriculum while supporting/aiding the program operations and functions of the STARBASE Oregon mission through collaboration with superiors and peers.
