About The Position

The employee is expected to perform all duties that are standard for this position. The Learning Center Teacher is responsible for maintaining a safe, orderly, and sanitary environment, conferring with parents and staff, coordinating and implementing age-appropriate program activities for the developmental growth of children, monitoring children for safety, preparing snacks and meals, reporting observations and incidents, and assisting other personnel as needed. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities but will have oversight of children in care.

Requirements

• Must have High School diploma or GED
• Completion of two years of study at an institution of higher education OR obtained 6-12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units.
• Must provide or obtain the Servsafe Food Handlers certification upon hire and maintain during employment.
• Must provide or obtain CPR & First Aide certification within three (3) months of hire and maintain throughout employment.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test and physical.
• Must pass a pre-employment TB Test, Annual TB risk assessment and symptom review required for ongoing employment.
• Must have valid Mandated Reporter Training Certification within three (3) months of hire.
• Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).
• Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.
• Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
• Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
• Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria.
• Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
• Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays & special events as needed.
• Successful candidates will be able to pass a drug and background screening, and successfully pass a TB test.

Nice To Haves

• Prefer candidates with an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.
• Prefer candidates who have experience working in Tribal Communities.
• Prefer related experience working with youth, in childcare or early childhood education.

Responsibilities

• Cleans Learning Center for the purpose of maintaining a safe, orderly and sanitary environment.
• Confers with parents, children, staff, supervisor, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or receiving information.
• Coordinates implements or may create age appropriate program activities (e.g. curriculum, environment, etc.) for the purpose of providing for the developmental growth of children in the Learning Center.
• Monitors children for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
• Prepares snacks and meals daily.
• Reports observation and incidents (e.g. accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel.
• Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
• Other duties may be assigned.
