Requirements

  • Bachelor in Nursing required.
  • Requires 1-3 years experience in educational setting, with emphasis on assessment and staff development.
  • Current valid Nebraska Registered Nurse (RN) License, valid compact multistate license to work in Nebraska, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of educational principles, practices and adult learning principles.

Responsibilities

  • Use adult learning principles to validate clinical skills of patient delivery staff to ensure competent and safe care.
  • Utilize department specific checklist to ensure correct competencies are assessed.
  • Review clinical skills assessment with each employee.
  • Maintain skills for all clinical areas being assessed to ensure proper staff education.
  • Report on deficient areas with departmental management to ensure proper follow up and skill development.
  • Provide input on policy, procedure and critical elements.
  • Ensure all staff schedules are accommodated by altering available hours for assessment as needed.
  • Maintain, update skills lab equipment and supplies to meet the needs of the Health System.
  • Initiate individualized educational plan using role specific education topics in the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Ensure staff log on information is active and work with internal departments to resolve issues.
  • Teach staff how to use LMS and instruct on courses required and deadline dates.
  • Review employee transcripts in LMS to ensure 100% completion of department specific requirements prior to leaving the Learning Center
  • Work with supervisor to plan completion of any outstanding courses.
  • Ensure all aspects of the evaluation are sent to department management in a timely manner.
  • Provide recommendations to improve courses and effectiveness of training.
  • Design ongoing learning methods to enhance clinical employee education.
  • Use individual learning style and temperament theory in the plan.
  • Assist in developing plans to improve quality of learning and assessments.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of teaching methods, content for assessments and practice changes.
  • Review Learning Center evaluations feedback to evaluate and revise Learning Center programs.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Methodist Health System staff with the goal of enhancing employee growth and development
  • Review feedback from new employees, departmental staff and clinical experts.
  • Collaborate with Methodist College to leverage available resources in learning and development.
  • Maintain skills lab equipment and supplies to meet the needs of the Health System.
