About The Position

ASU EdPlus is seeking a Learning Assessment Lead to join its Digital Learning team. The role focuses on redesigning assessments with faculty to improve learning, shifting from surveillance and proctoring toward authentic tasks that require situated, contextual, human work and provide verifiable evidence of student thinking. The position partners with faculty to create assessment approaches such as performance tasks, oral defenses, simulations, process-visible portfolios, and assignments that incorporate drafting and revision. The Learning Assessment Lead works in a collaborative, cross-functional studio alongside data scientists, user experience researchers, product managers, instructional designers, multimedia producers, and faculty. The role develops reusable assessment patterns that can be adopted across disciplines and scaled across courses and degree programs. It also supports faculty through cohorts and individual coaching, applies learning science to design decisions, and collaborates with research teams to evaluate effects on student learning, engagement, and persistence. This is an in-person, hybrid position based at the SkySong ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. The employee must be able to reliably commute to Scottsdale, Arizona, and must be eligible to work in the United States. ASU EdPlus will not sponsor this position.

  • One or two college-level assessment artifacts designed by the applicant, such as a performance task, rubric, oral defense protocol, or faculty redesign guide, potentially accompanied by documented impacts on student learning.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with faculty to replace traditional exams with performance tasks, oral defenses, simulations, and process-visible portfolios, moving away from surveillance and proctoring.
