About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This role designs digital and print materials that support training for patients and staff. It applies graphic design principles to enhance training initiatives, maintain organizational brand standards, and meet stakeholder needs. The position supports learning and development by enhancing the visual design elements of course design and supporting materials. The specialist is responsible for maintaining and updating existing training and educational content as delegated. For a candidate with the requisite technical skills, Sanford Health will provide training in a variety of areas, including but not limited to: instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and software-based training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft Office/Windows applications, analytical decision-making, information gathering, presentation, project management, group facilitation, innovative problem solving, and demonstrable training skills.
  • Effective communication skills are essential: personal, verbal, written, and electronic.
  • Ability to function in a collaborative, fast-paced, customer-driven organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Field of study preference based on department training focus and specialties.
  • Six years equivalent work experience as a potential alternative to a degree.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a healthcare environment providing education/training, including the use of automated software applications.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and training methods is preferred.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications based on program training needs of the department and population focus.

Responsibilities

  • Customizes curriculum and develop training materials to ensure that organizational and stakeholder needs are met.
  • Delivers training with a focus that utilizes adult learning principles and training methods.
  • Strives towards successful development of coursework for ideal learning experience.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating existing training and education programs delegated.
  • Performs quality checks to ensure satisfactory course functionalities and objectives are met.
  • Provides training in a variation of needs, including but not limited to: behind the scenes build and design, software based training, classroom setting both virtually and in-person with direct facilitation, and/or orientation to small and large groups.
  • Potentially creates online learning modules and delivers webinar and classroom training based on department training needs and curriculum.
  • Works closely with remote subject matter experts regarding the design, build, and maintenance of training content needs based on educational course topics and the initiatives driven within the department.
  • May coordinate training schedules as needed for intended audience and population.
  • Develops strong working relationships, manages projects, facilitates change processes and effectively communicates to achieve organizational goals.
  • Demonstrates successfully working with diverse groups of people in order to accomplish a common goal.
  • Demonstrates flexibility as well as effective planning and organizational skills.
  • Follows established checklists, writes course descriptions, revises courses as needed, maintains course catalog database when applicable, acts as a peer reviewer, and redesigns learning objects to increase effectiveness.
