About The Position

The Learn to Skate Instructor role includes two positions: Lead Instructor and Junior Instructor. The Lead Instructor is responsible for teaching basic skating skills to children aged 3 and older, monitoring junior instructors, and ensuring the program meets participant expectations. The Junior Instructor assists the Lead Instructor in teaching skating skills and monitoring participants. Both roles require knowledge of skating fundamentals and the ability to work in ice conditions.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older (Lead Instructor).
  • Must be 14 years or older (Junior Instructor).
  • Knowledge of skate fundamentals.
  • Able to present themselves professionally and communicate appropriately with all customers and staff members.
  • Able to work and train on ice conditions.
  • Responsible for up to 10 students per session (Lead Instructor).
  • Enjoy working with children of all ages (Junior Instructor).
  • Ability to evaluate participants skills and level (Lead Instructor).
  • Ability to assist Lead Teachers in evaluating participants skills and level (Junior Instructor).

Responsibilities

  • Teaching basic skating skills to children ages 3 and older.
  • Monitoring teaching skills and styles of junior instructors (Lead Instructor).
  • Ensuring the program is delivered as intended by management and meets participant expectations (Lead Instructor).
  • Taking responsibility for all happenings within a session (Lead Instructor).
  • Assisting the Lead Instructor in teaching basic skating skills (Junior Instructor).
  • Assisting in monitoring participants' skills (Junior Instructor).
  • Interacting with customers in a welcoming and professional manner while promoting the City Arena.
  • Following the Learn to Skate curriculum (based on US Figure Skating USA model).
