Chemours is seeking a Learn & Earn Intern to join our team at Washington Works Site in Parkersburg, WV. Students that succeed in Chemours’ internship and co-op program are typically reconsidered for future opportunities within the company! Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent
  • Ability to work rotating 12- hour shifts including overtime, weekends, holidays, and short notice call-in as required.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds, climb stairs, stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, and reach overhead
  • Ability to wear required PPE (personal Protective Equipment – eyewear, acid suit, breathing air, etc.)
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions

Responsibilities

  • Access all areas of the facilities as is needed to perform repairs and maintenance
  • Disassemble and assemble all parts of machines and support equipment according to the manufacturers, specifications.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs all equipment in the plant.
  • Preventative maintenance on all equipment as scheduled.
  • Read a basic electrical schematic.
  • Reading P&ID’s
  • Repair and maintain production lines and mechanical equipment such as motors and conveyor systems.
  • Disassembles, inspects, cleans, repairs, and reassembles equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, blowers, pressure vessels, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems air compressors, etc. according to oral and written instructions.
  • Aligns rotating and stationary equipment such as pumps, shafts, motors, gearboxes, blowers, and drive assemblies in order to prevent premature bearing, shaft and coupling failure.
  • Disassembles and reassembles heavy equipment such as columns, heat exchangers, and reboilers in order to make them ready for rigging, cleaning, inspection, packing and/or gasket replacement.
  • Precision measurements using optiline lasers, depth gauges, micrometers, feeler gauges, and calipers, etc. to align, check and adjust mechanical equipment
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
