About The Position

Chemours is seeking a Lean Transformation Leader to join our growing Advanced Performance Materials (APM) team. This position will be available at the Washington Works Plant located in Washington, WV and reports directly to the Plant Manager. The Lean Transformation Leader is a key site leadership role responsible for leveraging the Chemours Business System to enhance employee engagement, drive the acceleration of continuous improvement in operational excellence (including safety and environmental) as well as delivering strategic site initiatives across the site manufacturing value streams. This position is responsible for driving continuous improvement with a lean mindset and experience using, and leading, the tools, systems, and methodologies. The role partners closely with the Chemours Business System Team site leadership, cross-functional teams, other continuous improvement experts, and initiative owners to architect and execute improvement strategies, leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, and digitalization methodologies. This is an excellent role for candidates interested in future senior operations leadership roles (e.g Operations Manager, Plant Manager). Candidates must be open to future relocation opportunities as part of the Plant Manager development pathway. Mobility is an important component of this role to support leadership growth and business needs across our plant network.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or related technical field (Engineering preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership in direct line operations.
  • Formal Lean training and minimum 3-years using Lean tools and methodologies successfully to improve processes as primary responsibility.
  • Demonstrated success leading and implementing Tier Daily Management, A3 problem solving, value stream mapping, and kaizen events.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Technical knowledge and experience with chemical manufacturing process equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive for results and lead organizational change.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to relate to people at all levels and diverse cultures.
  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, make recommendations, and present findings.
  • Ability to mentor and train operations, maintenance, and manufacturing technical personnel in Lean tools and their application.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site efforts, including leading, teaching and coaching continuous improvement and kaizen events, aligned with the Chemours Business System implementation (Kaizen Events, 5S, Standard Work, Visual Management, TPM, A3 Problem Solving, value stream mapping).
  • Mentor and coach site employees in lean process methodologies and tools for personal development and to continuously improve business value, engagement and operational discipline.
  • Utilize data analytics and digitalization (Power BI, machine learning, AI) to identify gaps and drive improvement plans.
  • Implement and sustain systems that support ongoing improvement efforts.
  • Educate site and business personnel, developing sustainable expertise in the organization.
  • Develop and monitor progress against the site’s 5-year improvement strategy.
  • Facilitate ideation sessions and partner with initiative owners to develop rigorous project milestones and timelines.
  • Drive execution of improvement strategies, establish managing rituals including reporting progress versus key milestones.
  • Support all site value stream operations, including production, maintenance, laboratory, logistics, and materials, in driving the identification and reduction of waste through continuous improvement and leveraging the Chemours Business System.
  • Drive data-based processes to identify performance gaps through cross functional plant teams to identify and execute improvement plans.
  • Ensure tracking and reporting in the corporate tracking system (WAVE).
  • Represent the Washington Works improvement plans and progress in the Operations and APM Transformation Office managing processes.
  • Ensure daily management rigor across the site value streams to meet daily, monthly, and annual goals.
  • Partner with Plant Manager and cross-functional teams for strategic site improvement and conflict resolution.
  • Promote a learning organization by assessing and developing training to support identified gaps.
  • Develop employees through coaching, training, recognition, and performance evaluations.
  • Active member of site leadership and corporate continuous improvement network, sharing best practices and objectives.
  • Provide leadership and support to enable strong daily management processes to monitor and respond to gaps for key value stream metrics including site cost of manufacture (VCOM, FCOM, TCOM), raw material yields, energy, production performance (OEE2, Quality Performance).
  • Maintain expertise and provide coaching for site leadership and teams on dashboarding, KPI metrics, problem solving and countermeasures.
