About The Position

TSC is seeking a Lean Engineer in Huntsville, AL. This role involves leading Lean projects to improve process flow, increase efficiency, and reduce non-value-added activity. The engineer will conduct diagnostic assessments, develop and implement Lean solutions, and partner with various teams to enhance daily operations and support strategic initiatives. Additionally, the role includes facilitating training, monitoring KPIs, supporting layout and workstation optimization, and assisting with the development of a Lean Management System. The position also requires evaluating processes for compliance and driving a culture of continuous improvement on the shop floor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–7 years of experience in Lean manufacturing, process engineering, or continuous improvement roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean tools such as VSM, Kaizen, 5S, Kanban, SMED, and Standard Work.
  • Experience with data analysis, problem-solving methodologies, and process optimization.
  • Proficiency with Excel, CAD, and process documentation tools; experience with data visualization is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and team‑building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple lean initiatives and drive results in a fast‑paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Lean projects aimed at improving process flow, increasing efficiency, and reducing non-value-added activity throughout the facility.
  • Conduct value stream mapping, time studies, root-cause analysis, and other diagnostic assessments to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement solutions such as Kaizen events, Standard Work, 5S methodology, Kanban systems, and error-proofing (Poka‑Yoke).
  • Partner with production, quality, engineering, and logistics teams to improve daily operations and support strategic initiatives.
  • Facilitate training and coaching on Lean principles and tools to build internal capability across departments.
  • Monitor KPIs to verify effectiveness of improvement initiatives and track ongoing performance.
  • Support layout redesigns, workstation optimization, and ergonomic improvements to enhance safety and reduce waste.
  • Assist with the development and sustainment of a Lean Management System including visual controls, tier meetings, and continuous improvement reporting.
  • Evaluate processes for compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement through hands-on engagement on the shop floor.
