About The Position

This position will lead 6 Sigma Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) projects within Drivetrain (Torque Convertors, Transmissions, Axles, Final Drives, & CVTs) across a broad range of Caterpillar machines. Work towards a large reduction in customer defects & bottom line warranty expense, while ultimately improving the customer & dealer experience. This is done by improving our solutions & services while effectively communicating and ensuring the improvements are at the lowest possible cost & seamless to customers & extended enterprise.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering or Business or an equivalent level of work experience desired.
Six Sigma Methodology: Knowledge of the concepts of six sigma DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) methodology; ability to use the methodology to improve the manufacturing processes and control the improvements by eliminating root causes.
Active Learning: Understanding the necessity for continuous personal growth and learning; ability to gauge one's strengths, limitations and interests accurately, and use this knowledge for purposes of performance effectiveness self-development.
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.

Nice To Haves

10+ years of professional level experience.
Experience with Caterpillar drivetrain software & hardware systems & features
Experience in FEA, Creo, GD&T, Teamcenter, & Software Development Process
Experience running complex Drivetrain CPI projects successfully w/ knowledge of supporting processes
Demonstrated excellent project management skills (certification), team leadership skills, and excellent communication skills.
Should have knowledge of other functions that provide inputs regularly, i.e., Product Development, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Operations.

Responsibilities

Manage approximately 10-12 CPI projects across various stages of implementation.
Lead regular cross functional team meetings or workshops to define the problem, create a project plan, implement immediate customer containment actions, identify & investigate issue root causes, facilitate solution(s) creation, validation, and implementation.
Work throughout the value streams to ensure solutions are implemented worldwide optimally.
Regularly creating/updating publications & systems for communication to worldwide dealers.
Regularly summarizing reporting to leaders/clients/dealers on project status and escalating appropriately when roadblocks are encountered.
Mentor other project leaders & lead division wide product / process improvement projects.
