About The Position

The League Director is responsible for overseeing game day operations of assigned youth sports leagues. This position serves as the primary on-site supervisor, ensuring a safe, organized, and enjoyable experience for participants, coaches, officials, volunteers, and spectators. The League Director provides excellent customer service, resolves concerns professionally, and ensures league policies and procedures are followed. This is a seasonal, part-time position for school year 2026/2027. Hours primarily include evenings and weekends based on league schedules. Additional hours may be required for league meetings, training, tournaments, or special events.

Requirements

  • Ability to multitask while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Basic computer and mobile technology skills.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to bend, reach, carry equipment, and perform other physical duties associated with athletic programming.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with youth sports, recreation programs, or athletic events preferred.
  • Previous experience supervising youth athletic leagues.
  • Experience working in parks and recreation.
  • Knowledge of sportsmanship and positive youth development principles.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all league activities during scheduled practices and games.
  • Ensure games begin and end on time according to the league schedule.
  • Prepare and inspect fields, courts, equipment, and supplies before league activities.
  • Coordinate with officials, coaches, volunteers, and staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Monitor participant attendance and league participation.
  • Assist with field or court setup and cleanup before and after games.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, coaches, participants, and spectators during league activities.
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service at all times.
  • Address participant concerns and resolve conflicts in a calm and respectful manner.
  • Communicate important information regarding schedules, weather delays, and program updates.
  • Ensure participant safety by enforcing league rules and City policies.
  • Respond appropriately to injuries, emergencies, and incidents.
  • Complete accident and incident reports as needed.
  • Monitor weather conditions and assist with weather-related decisions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized playing environment.
  • Support volunteer coaches by answering questions and providing guidance.
  • Assist with coach check-in and communication throughout the season.
  • Ensure coaches and officials demonstrate appropriate sportsmanship.
  • Report any staff or volunteer concerns to the Recreation Program Coordinator.
  • Assist with distributing uniforms, equipment, schedules, and league information.
  • Communicate equipment needs and facility issues to supervisory staff.
  • Set up and break down athletic equipment.
  • Ensure equipment is properly stored and maintained.
  • Report damaged equipment or facility maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Program Coordinator
