About The Position

The League of Legends Coach for UNF Esports is responsible for leading and developing the university’s competitive League of Legends team. This role focuses on strategic preparation, team coordination, and cultivating a positive, disciplined, and communicative team culture. The coach will plan and run practices, scrimmages, VOD reviews, and tournament matches to ensure the team is prepared, competitive, and continually improving.

Requirements

• In-depth understanding of League of Legends gameplay, including current meta, patch changes, and competitive trends.
• Strong familiarity with team compositions, champion synergies, lane matchups, and macro concepts (objectives, vision, tempo).
• Effective techniques for improving in-game communication, shot-calling, and team cohesion.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Patience, adaptability, and flexibility are required when working with student-athletes of varying experience levels.
• Ability to give constructive, actionable, and encouraging feedback.
• Commitment to fostering a respectful and supportive environment by maintaining clear boundaries between coach and student, ensuring all interactions remain focused on skill development, teamwork, and personal growth.

Responsibilities

• Research, develop, and implement effective team strategies, drafts, and objective-focused game plans.
• Guide champion pool development and team compositions based on current meta and team strengths.
• Foster clear, respectful, and efficient in-game and out-of-game communication among team members.
• Organize and manage team schedules, including practices, scrimmages, VOD reviews, and tournament competition.
• Conduct VOD reviews to analyze gameplay, decision-making, macro execution, and team coordination.
• Mentor student-athletes to support individual skill growth and overall team performance.
