About The Position

Brodie League is a rapidly growing sports brand that is transforming adult recreational basketball by offering a high-quality, professional experience focused on culture, competition, and community. The League Manager is responsible for the end-to-end operation of a Brodie location. This includes leading a game night floor crew to ensure games start on time and adhere to the Brodie Standard, as well as managing off-game night tasks such as payroll, scheduling, league health, communication with team captains, and outreach to maintain and grow league participation. The role reports to a District Manager and may involve partnership with a City Launcher in new or smaller markets. The ideal candidate is someone who has prior team leadership experience, upholds high standards proactively, and creates a welcoming and valuable experience for all athletes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading people, including hiring, scheduling, correcting, and developing teams of 3 or more in sectors like restaurants, hospitality, retail, fitness, events, or sports operations.
  • Demonstrated ownership of recurring responsibilities, such as managing a weekly shift, location, program, or season using systems rather than relying solely on memory. Ability to take ownership and implement changes when issues arise.
  • Possess the warmth and presence to make athletes feel welcomed and remembered.
  • A genuine connection to basketball and the local community, demonstrated through playing, coaching, refereeing, organizing, or captaining.
  • Full commitment to a full-time role as the sole employment, with availability for game nights (evenings and weekends) and weekday work (approximately 9 am to 5 pm).
  • Local residency in or near the market managed, with reliable transportation for moving brand fixtures and equipment, and willingness to travel for training and check-ins at HQ.
  • Comfort and proficiency in sales and follow-up, including converting verbal agreements into paid registrations and diligently logging activities in a CRM.
  • Ability to quickly adopt new tools such as PlayerOne, Rippling, and Slack.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience playing in a Brodie league or familiarity with the league as an athlete.
  • A network within the local basketball or recreational sports scene.
  • Experience with CRM, payroll, timesheet, or scheduling tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a floor crew of typically 10-15 staff (Scorekeepers, Referees, Athlete Experience Specialists, Athlete Highlight Specialists, media staff) on game nights, ensuring all courts are covered, staff are rotated, and standards for uniforms, positions, focus, and branding are maintained. Coach, document, and escalate performance issues as needed.
  • Ensure game nights run according to the Brodie Standard, including setting up the gym, conducting pre-game meetings, starting games on time, managing live streaming, resolving disputes, and completing scoresheets, photo verification, and reporting within 4 hours of the final game.
  • Manage the athlete experience by greeting captains, interacting with players and captains between games, responding to messages within 24 hours, and addressing complaints within 48 hours.
  • Achieve retention and growth targets by re-signing teams, converting players, driving referrals, and personally reaching out to captains and lapsed teams. In new markets, collaborate with a City Launcher to drive new team acquisition and retention.
  • Build and manage the season schedule, including regular season, playoffs, and all-star games, using PlayerOne. This includes placing and balancing divisions, onboarding captains, rostering free agents, and managing jerseys, equipment, and court bookings.
  • Oversee administrative tasks, including reviewing and approving staff timesheets and payroll in Rippling, maintaining accurate stats and standings, and ensuring overdue balances are settled before players participate.
  • Independently manage weekly tasks, maintaining visibility with the District Manager through CRM, the Season Success Checklist, and weekly check-ins. Proactively identify and report on potential issues with registrations or game nights, along with a plan to address them.
  • Develop a self-sustaining location by partnering with the District Manager to hire, train, and develop the crew, creating checklists and handoffs for smooth operation in the manager's absence, and identifying opportunities to expand capacity when the location is at maximum occupancy.
