About The Position
Looking for a seasonal opportunity that keeps you active and outdoors? Join the City of Fort Wayne Street Department and help keep our neighborhoods clean during leaf collection season. No previous experience is required. This seasonal position is a great opportunity to earn income, gain hands-on work experience, and make a visible difference in neighborhoods throughout Fort Wayne. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Dependability, good judgment, and a willingness to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures, humidity, rain, dust, grease, and loud conditions.
- Hard-soled, steel-toe footwear is required.
- This position involves standing and walking for extended periods and sustained physical activity.
Nice To Haves
- A valid Indiana driver's license is recommended but not required.
Responsibilities
- Rake, sweep, collect, and remove leaves and other debris.
- Assist with general cleanup throughout assigned neighborhoods.
- Use hand tools and help operate equipment such as leaf vacuum machines.
- Safely perform physically demanding work, including bending, twisting, climbing, pushing, reaching, and regularly lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Follow all City safety procedures and work professionally with coworkers and the public.
