About The Position

This position involves reviewing, analyzing, and processing loan and lease credit applications. The analyst conducts investigations to make informed credit decisions within their assigned authority and refers applications exceeding that authority to appropriate personnel. The role does not have supervisory or managerial responsibilities.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 5 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ work experience
• Proven organizational skills
• Proven analytical skills
• Proven decision-making skills

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Mathematics
• Minimum of 1 years’ related experience
• Minimum of 1 years’ leasing experience
• Formal credit training
• Proven underwriting analysis skills
• Good working knowledge of credit and underwriting principles and procedures

Responsibilities

• Underwrite loan and lease credit applications within assigned authority and accurately record the decision in the appropriate system.
• Complete credit investigations and compile routine credit information for loan and lease applications.
• Prepare credit write-ups for transactions under $500 k.
• Refer credit decisions above assigned authority to proper credit personnel, inclusive of a recommendation for approval or denial.
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.
• Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.
