About The Position

The Leadperson – Batch Plant is responsible for daily planning, directing, training, implementation and general supervision of his/her assigned area. Accountable to meet production schedules within budgeted allocations, and to meet the above responsibilities while insuring conformance to safety and quality standards. Accountable to maintain a demonstrated ability to perform all the functions/operations of those positions within the department: Batch Plant Operator such as responsible for batching concrete to mix requirements, ordering raw materials, and scheduling mixer trucks to ensure timely delivery to production areas. As well as being responsible for general equipment operator maintenance, minor repairs, and inspection tasks utilizing checklists, instructions and small tools.

Requirements

  • Concrete and / or construction experience, required
  • 1-3 years precast / pre-stress industry, required
  • Good communication / follow up skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to manage / lead a team while maintaining company polices
  • Ability to manage multiple projects / tasks on a daily basis
  • Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Trains and develops new co-workers in the areas of on-the-job training, safety rules and regulations, and Company policies and procedures.
  • Assist Supervisor - Production with training/cross training and development of co-workers members for future advancement.
  • Provide input to Supervisor - Production in planning manpower utilization within department with regard to co-worker skill level.
  • Direct crew’s daily activities to achieve planned production schedule by making decisions based on complexity of the job/product and input from the Supervisor – Production.
  • Pre-plan daily and weekly schedules for ordering parts as needed.
  • Assist in the piece sequence scheduling of products produced in his/her area as requested by Supervisor - Production and/or Scheduler.
  • Responsible for communication with crew members on a regular basis including but not limited to: conducting Tool Box Talks, MDI meetings, etc.
  • Instills in his/her team members an attitude of safety awareness as it pertains to department, company, and corporate safety rules, regulations and procedures by demonstrating he/she can work in a safe manner on a continual basis, by following established procedures in the areas of safety/health ensuring the safety of his/her fellow co-workers is not jeopardized by their actions.
  • Maintains and submits on time, all records and reports necessary and/or assigned, including but not limited to: production/schedule reports, material usage, Tool Box Talk forms, workforce dimensions and attendance system, daily checklist, CBO’s, etc.
  • Maintain budgeted man-hours for products assigned by comparing hours worked by crew with efficiency report.
  • Accepts and commits to HCG’s concept of “Team” managing and works to enhance his/her performance not only as a Team Member, but as a Leadperson and encourages all others to be “Team” players.
  • Takes immediate corrective action within scope of assigned authority whenever productivity, quality and/or safety problems arise, keeping his/her Supervisor appraised of all such situations.
  • Maintain all department equipment, inventory and order parts and supplies, necessary to meet production/service requirements.
  • Provide regular, verbal and/or written co-worker performance updates to Supervisor -Production and assist with annual performance appraisals.
  • Provide proposals recommending improvements of batch plant process to increase productivity, quality and/or safety to Supervisor - Production.
  • 6S – required to meet and support daily, weekly and monthly 6S goals and objectives.
  • Clean and return all tools and equipment to storage area daily.
  • Maintains quality focus for all tasks and looks to improve product for both internal and external customers.
  • Participates in Quality projects as needed.

  • Have the demonstrated ability to adequately perform and maintain all the skills listed on the Co-workers Skill Matrix.
  • Responsible for batching of concrete accurately per the approved mix design for each job.
  • Work closely with Mixer Truck Drivers, Front-End Loader Operator and Production Leadpersons to coordinate proper mixing, scheduling and delivery of concrete to production areas on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for ordering of materials (cement, stone, pigment, sand, aggregates) in conjunction with the Batch Plant Lead ensuring materials are on hand as required to meet production requirements.
  • Work closely with Front End Loader Operator to ensure Batch Plant bins are filled at all times and material contamination is prevented.
  • Responsible to clean, inspect, make adjustments, and perform minor repairs on all Batch Plant equipment as required or scheduled.
  • Disassembles and assembles equipment as required to perform repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Detects and reports improper equipment operation, defective materials, and unsafe conditions to the Batch Plant Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for keeping work areas, storage areas, and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Able to communicate professionally and respectfully with internal and externa customers.
  • Report all maintenance and software issues to the Batch Plant Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Report all quality issues to the Batch Plant Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Maintains and submits, on time, all records and reports necessary and/or assigned including, but not limited to: Daily Material Usage, Daily Schedule, etc.
  • Is committed to the Improvement Process and is a role model.
  • Maintain an understanding/working knowledge of the HCG evacuation plans/procedures.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with fellow co-workers.
  • Maintain current and assist in development of future JSA (Job Safety Analysis) for all department functions and communicate same with co-workers.
  • Perform other job duties and assignments as required within scope of job responsibilities.
