About The Position

As a Leadman at Pratt Industries – Nashville, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of production machinery. This position involves a variety of tasks, including machine setup, operation, cleanup, and troubleshooting, with a focus on safety, meeting customer demand, and maintaining high-quality standards. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment, constantly striving for improvements in equipment efficiency while ensuring safety and cleanliness in your work area.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 6 Months experience as a Flexo or DieCut Helper
  • 6 Months experience in the Press and Finishing Departments
  • Ability to follow instructions for machine adjustments and basic maintenance
  • Load and unload materials safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct visual inspections and measurements using basic tools
  • Observe and track performance for optimal efficiency in the hand labor area.
  • Understand equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation
  • Have an understanding of product layouts, specifications, quality specifications and quality standards
  • Identify minor equipment issues and communicate with maintenance personnel.
  • Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting
  • Standing, bending, and repetitive motions for extended periods
  • Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain one and compliance with physical, drug screening, and background check requirements

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent hazards, and ensure compliance with operational guidelines and OSHA regulations
  • Inspect products and materials to meet quality standards, follow proper procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy in production, and identify and report any quality concerns.
  • Operate or learn to operate a variety of machinery, including presses and forklifts. Monitor equipment performance and report malfunctions and assist in setup, adjustments, and routine maintenance of machine.
  • Participate in periodic training sessions to enhance skills, stay updated on best practices for manufacturing operations, and apply learned skills to improve workplace productivity and efficiency.
  • Document operational data and report production progress, assist with troubleshooting minor mechanical issues and communicate effectively with team members and supervisor.
  • Adapt to changes in work assignments, shifts, and production needs. Collaborate with coworkers to meet production goals and willingly take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Able to read tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurements, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
