About The Position

Weber Innovation High is seeking a Leadership Teacher for its magnet academy model. This role focuses on designing and delivering advanced, student-centered coursework to develop life-ready leaders. The instructor will equip students with the mindset, skills, and experiences necessary to lead themselves, others, and their communities, preparing them for college, careers, and real-world leadership opportunities. The position involves facilitating learning experiences that help students develop vision, set and achieve goals, strengthen wellness, and build habits for sustained success. Coursework integrates leadership theory with real-world application through project-based learning, performance tasks, and community-connected experiences. Key areas of focus include self-leadership, mindset, personal responsibility, vision setting, planning, perseverance, balance, time management, renewal, service-mindedness, teamwork, civic awareness, listening, collaboration, conflict resolution, empowerment, shared vision, collective success, planning, organization, execution, accountability, clarity of message, confident presentation, and audience engagement. The instructor will design curriculum aligned to leadership competencies, facilitate project-based and experiential learning, coach students, build community partnerships, and support students in developing portfolios. This role is crucial in cultivating a culture of ownership, purpose, collaboration, and high expectations.

Requirements

  • Has knowledge of State Core Curriculum and Board of Education adopted guides.
  • Valid Utah Teaching/Educator License and relevant endorsement(s).
  • Requires a Utah State Board of Education (USBE) approved, cleared criminal background check.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.
  • The role requires in-person collaboration, direct interaction with team members, other staff, students, and/or guardians, and access to on-site equipment and resources.

  • Devise and utilize accurate, standards-aligned methods to measure student progress.
  • Evaluate academic growth and durable skill development through authentic demonstrations of mastery.
  • Provide timely coaching, feedback, conferencing, and opportunities for reflection and revision.
  • Maintain accurate, secure records of student progress and prepare required progress reports for PLC’s.
  • Support school-wide initiatives aligned to profession-based learning and workforce readiness.
  • Attend and actively participate in faculty meetings, PLCs, committees, student activities, and professional development.
  • Design and facilitate a profession-based CAPS capstone course within an assigned pathway, centered on authentic industry problems, client-connected projects, and real-world deliverables.
  • Develop and sustain active partnerships with industry professionals who serve as mentors, project clients, evaluators, and advisory contributors to ensure learning reflects current workforce standards and expectations.
  • Coach students in professional practices including client communication, project management, collaboration, innovation, and presentation of solutions to authentic audiences.
  • Assess student growth through industry-aligned competencies, authentic products, public exhibitions, and demonstration of Utah Durable Skills in alignment with CAPS network expectations.
  • Establish and maintain clear standards of student behavior aligned to a professional learning atmosphere.
  • Provide a safe, supervised, and inclusive environment in classrooms, labs, collaborative spaces, and school grounds.
  • Build strong rapport with students and empower them to take ownership of their learning and growth.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, community partners, and district personnel.
  • Interpret school programs and student progress to families through conferences and other communication methods.
  • Demonstrate professional ethics in accordance with Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information in compliance with FERPA and district policy, including responsible use of technology and social media.
  • Maintain required records securely and responsibly manage district-owned property and equipment.
  • Continuously reflect, innovate, and engage in professional learning aligned to personalized, competency-based education and profession-based pathways.
  • Thrive in nontraditional, evolving learning environments.
  • Maintain professional competence through district-provided and self-directed professional learning.
