About The Position

The Leadership Giving Officer (LGO) for the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics (Paul College) is responsible for fundraising at the leadership giving level, specifically between $25,000 and $99,999. This role focuses on managing a portfolio of prospects within Paul College's constituent base who have the capacity for philanthropic contributions in this range, aligning with the priorities set by the Dean. The LGO will collaborate with leadership and stakeholders within Paul College, as well as with colleagues across the Development team and University Advancement. Key activities include personal outreach, coordinating strategic communications, events, and other initiatives to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, engage, and steward prospects, ultimately motivating them towards leadership-level giving. The ideal candidate is a goal-oriented, entrepreneurial, strategic, and creative thinker with a proven track record in fundraising or a related field, possessing strong interpersonal skills, project management abilities, and a high degree of motivation, organization, and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of fundraising experience or more years of experience in a relevant field (sales, business development, account/relationship management, marketing and/or public relations).
  • Demonstrated understanding of the relevance of philanthropy and Development expertise.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, about fundraising support, building rapport, listening attentively, and influencing others.
  • Exceptionally strong interpersonal skills and experience interacting with diverse internal and external constituents in a culturally competent and supportive manner.
  • Exceptionally strong organizational skills and ability to juggle and prioritize multiple projects/tasks.
  • Orientation as a team player and demonstrated strength in partnering with peers, management, and leadership, and collaborating across diverse university units and departments.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the responsibility to maintain sensitive information and appreciation of ethics and compliance.
  • Openness to travel on behalf of UNH for donor/prospect visits or as the university's representative, including local, regional, and domestic trips.
  • Exceptionally strong analytical skills and experience working in a metrics-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in database technologies and Microsoft Office and technological/data acumen.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and actively expand a portfolio of Paul College constituents capable of making leadership level gifts ($25,000 - $99,999), maintaining frequent contact to build relationships and increase philanthropic support.
  • Conduct up to 150 visits annually with prospects via video conferencing, phone, and/or in-person, which may require travel across the state, region, and occasionally the U.S. Engage the Paul College Dean, faculty, and staff in these visits when needed.
  • Craft meaningful funding proposals for leadership level gifts and multi-year commitments that align with donor and dean priorities.
  • Solicit gifts of all levels for Paul College, with a focus on leadership level gifts, from assigned prospects and others to achieve annual revenue goals.
  • Assist the Development team in achieving alumni participation goals for the university and Paul College, including engagement in key campaigns like the (603) Challenge and year-end pushes.
  • Facilitate pipeline movement across all Development spectrums (Annual Giving, Leadership Giving, Major Giving, and Planned Giving) by working closely with colleagues to transition prospects.
  • Qualify new prospects and disqualify existing ones for leadership level giving based on their affinity and inclination to engage philanthropically at that level.
  • Steward prospects and donors throughout their philanthropic journey with Paul College to maximize their donor potential.
  • Utilize CRM database, reports, and other technologies to efficiently manage, engage, and expand the assigned portfolio.
  • Plan and execute leadership level giving communications and marketing for Paul College in partnership with colleagues, using various channels (mail, phone, email, social media, etc.).
  • Plan and facilitate leadership level cultivation and stewardship activities (events, programs, and other touchpoints) in partnership with Development colleagues.
  • Consult with Paul College leadership, faculty, and staff on tactics, engaging them in strategies and ensuring alignment with their priorities.
  • Partner with the Senior Director of Leadership Giving to determine annual goals for individual and unit level metrics, monitor progress through reports, and ensure timely and accurate data recording.
  • Collaborate across all Development and Advancement teams to support university fundraising goals and strategic plans, ensuring leadership giving strategies align with overall fundraising and engagement strategies.
  • Participate in events, programs, meetings, and initiatives supporting UNH and Paul College as directed by Development, Advancement, and the Paul College Dean.
