About The Position

Étoile Academy Charter School is a K-8 public charter network in Houston serving a majority emergent bilingual, economically disadvantaged student population. The Leader-in-Residence spends one year working alongside a campus principal, leading real work with real accountability, to prepare for a campus leadership role. Placement after the residency depends on performance and network need.

Requirements

• One year of experience working alongside a campus principal.
• Experience leading real work with real accountability.
• Ability to coach teachers through observation and feedback cycles.
• Skills in leading data meetings and using assessment results for planning.
• Experience reviewing lesson plans for rigor and alignment.
• Ability to strengthen instruction for emergent bilingual students.
• Experience engaging with Spanish- and Pashto-speaking families.
• Ability to progressively own campus systems (student culture, operations, testing logistics).
• Experience leading professional development.
• Experience participating in hiring processes.
• Ability to complete residency coursework.
• Experience leading a campus improvement project with measurable student outcome goals.
• Ability to teach a portion of the school day.

Responsibilities

• Coach a caseload of teachers through SPOT observation and feedback cycles.
• Lead data meetings using STAAR-aligned assessment results to plan reteach and intervention.
• Review lesson plans for rigor and alignment to the TEKS.
• Strengthen instruction for emergent bilingual students and engagement with Spanish- and Pashto-speaking families.
• Progressively own campus systems, including student culture, operations, and STAAR testing logistics.
• Lead professional development and participate in hiring.
• Complete residency coursework and lead one campus improvement project with measurable student outcome goals.
• Teach a portion of the school day.
