The Thermo King Finance Leader is an integral member of the Americas Finance team and serves as lead finance partner for the Thermo King Americas President and Leadership Team. The position is responsible for growth strategy, financial planning, forecasting, management reporting and analysis, investment execution, working capital management, compliance and executive support on finance related matters for a business unit delivering $1.5B in annual sales. The role will provide support and strategic leadership to understand and communicate timely trends, quantify and help solve operational issues and mitigate financial risks. Candidates must have a proven background of strategic leadership, analytical excellence, and a strong work ethic in a fast-paced environment. A successful candidate will be business, growth and profit-minded, self-motivated, have a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to cultivate people talent to sustain the team. The position is located in Bloomington, MN. The position is a direct report to the VP of Finance Americas and reports dotted line to the Thermo King Americas President.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required; MBA and CPA preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience within the Finance function required, with experience within a publicly-held global Corporation preferred.
  • 20-30% Travel Required
  • Ability to influence operating executives and act as a true business partner.
  • Excellent communicator and negotiator with demonstrated influencing skills and the ability to build and leverage internal and external alliances with a high level of social and cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to develop and implement Finance strategies that align with BU and Enterprise. Drive accountability with the team and SBU organization.
  • Team player with a strong ability to build relationships and instill confidence and trust with executive management and external stakeholders.
  • Robust commitment to a culture of proactive compliance
  • Strong knowledge of financial statements and the key aspects of U.S. GAAP that relate to consolidation of financial statements.
  • Strong accounting and reporting system skills including ONESTREAM, Oracle and Excel
  • Technical skills in accounting, finance and other areas as well as experience with accounting cycles, such as AOP, LRP, and standards setting
  • Ability to assess and implement process improvements and drive change, efficiency and standardization of the company’s finance processes
  • Possess excellent organization and time management skills to be able to handle several assignments at one time and work in matrix organization

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to execute the Thermo King Americas growth strategy, drive change, and operating performance of the business.
  • Partners with the Thermo King Americas leadership team to develop the business strategy and drive the translation of strategic goals into actionable/measurable business plans.
  • Organize, develop, review and approve forecasts, plans (LRP/AOP), capital investments, and business case proposals (CERs) and drives accountability through execution to ensure achievement of planned return on investment.
  • Direct the decision-making process to drive growth, increased profitability, efficient use of Working Capital, improved cash flow, and Cash Return on Invested Capital (CROIC).
  • Partner with Enterprise Strategy and Business Development teams to support growth, acquisitions, and divestures, including, financial modeling and due diligence.
  • Partner with Americas Integration team around post-merger integration efforts to align acquired companies with Thermo King reporting requirements, processes, and policies, ensuring seamless transition and synergy realization.
  • Proactively promote sustainable compliance with Company Accounting and SOX Policies and Procedures and US GAAP.
  • Develop tools for early identification of financial problems and make resilient recommendations for resolution of problems including A3s and Countermeasures.
  • Design, improve, and maintain financial systems and models.
  • Guide a team to perform frequent and complex ad hoc analytics to proactively deliver insights to business leaders.
  • Coach and guide the team around effective story telling through insightful preparation of monthly/quarterly business unit (BU) reports like MORs, QBRs and ERAM presentations that highlight the operational results, variance analysis, and recovery plans to achieve or exceed AOP.
  • Educate and develop staff and colleagues to understand the business unit’s financial performance and the financial effect of business plans and strategies.
  • Serve as a Lean Leader that insists on a continuous improvement and simplification approach to important processes. Partner with the Thermo King Americas FP&A and ISC Finance leaders to validate the financial deadlines are operationally efficient and well communicated in advance.
  • Lead, coach, and develop direct reports to ensure high employee engagement, solid execution of responsibilities, and continuous development.
