About The Position

Responsible for the supervision of youth care workers and escorts. Lead Youth Care Worker (YCW) will also provide direct care of children in care and maintain a line of sight at all times. Lead Youth Care Workers will provide oversight of UAC and youth care worker staff. Lead YCW oversees and assists during the transition and with the movement of children from one activity to the next and one physical location to another and will conduct themselves in an appropriate manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Direct care staff shall be 21 years old or older.
  • Clean Driving record is required.
  • Valid, active driver's license
  • 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • 1 year of previous work/volunteer experience with juveniles is required.
  • 1 year previous experience working under ORR or HHS programs is required.
  • Must be bilingual (English/Spanish) - speak, read and write.
  • Must be willing to work overnight shift (10:30 pm to 6:30 am)
  • PLEASE NOTE: MUST BE WILLING TO BE TRAINED AT OTHER LOCATIONS (77033 AND 77035) - LENGTH OF TIME TO BE DETERMINED UPON HIRE.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to supervise and monitor YCWs activities and tasks.
  • Responsible for reviewing Y CWs timesheets.
  • Create evaluations for YCW and submit for review to Assistant Program Manager.
  • Provide direct supervision of children in care and maintain line-of-sight at all times.
  • Provide oversight during recreation, mealtime, relaxing time, and play.
  • Interact with children including playing games or during recreational time.
  • Provide necessary training to employees and new hires.
  • Provides positive and respectful attitude towards children in care.
  • Oversees the overall safety, accountability and security of facility.
  • Teach, coach and supervise students in activities of daily living including morning, bedtime and overnight procedures, hygiene and cleanliness, housekeeping, meals, intramurals, sports, academics, and extracurricular activities both on and off facility.
  • Recognizes escalating behaviors and intervene at the appropriate level to ensure safety and security.
  • Transports students to court, home passes and appointments as necessary.
  • Responsible for working collaboratively with program administrators to ensure that the collaborative process between the unit supervisors, case managers and clinical staff occurs on a consistent and on-going basis to ensure that unit programming is developed, implemented and maintained within the lens of integrative treatment design.
  • Follows individual treatment plans for all the children.
  • Provides effective communication across departments and programs to ensure consistency of expectations, as well as works effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with families, children/youth, colleagues, consultants and community agencies.
  • Develops and maintains emotional intelligence for effective self-care and the role-model for youth, staff, and families the essence of Trauma Informed Practices.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the value of cultural diversity, including the ability to develop systems and practices that are inclusive of diverse staff members and responsive to the cultural needs of the client population served.
  • Assist ensuring program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies.
  • Other task and responsibilities as assigned.
