About The Position

Rite of Passage Team is hiring for a Lead Youth Care Professional at San Pasqual Academy- STRTP in Escondido, CA. San Pasqual Academy is a residential facility located on a beautiful 238-acre campus in rural San Pasqual Valley, equipped with amenities of a private high school. The academy offers on-grounds sports and activities, and residential staff serve as surrogate parents who mentor and tutor students, teach independent living skills, create opportunities for new interests, encourage participation in sports and recreation, assist in career exploration, and promote family living skills. As a Lead Youth Care Professional, you will have the opportunity to create a positive, safe, and supportive environment for the youth served, contributing to their development into successful adults.

Requirements

  • Must be empathetic, patient, and respectful, with a genuine desire to work with troubled teens.
  • Must pass a criminal background check, drug screening, physical exam, and TB test.
  • Must hold a current State Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record for the past three years.
  • 60 hours of college education in a directly related field of study OR at least one year of prior experience working with at-risk youth in a similar Direct Care position.
  • Completion of company-required training within six months of placement in the position is mandatory.
  • Internal applicants must have an acceptable performance record and at least 90 days of experience in a Child Care Worker or higher Direct Care position.
  • Must complete Initial Qualifications Training prior to placement in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safety and around-the-clock supervision for residential youth.
  • Promote a professional and supportive atmosphere.
  • Monitor and document youth behaviors and actions.
  • Participate in and assist with educational and recreational activities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to establish and meet the goals of each youth’s treatment plan.
  • Uphold a sense of community by teaching and modeling cooperation, respect, and responsibility in the group living environment specifically for other staff.
