About The Position

The Lead Yard Associate is responsible for supervising loaders, pullers, and drivers while supporting daily yard operations. This role includes training employees on proper product loading, unloading, delivery, and storage procedures, as well as reinforcing customer service expectations and safe work practices. The Lead Yard Associate ensures operational efficiency, accuracy, and safety while maintaining a productive and team-oriented work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One or more years of yard, warehouse, or related experience preferred.
  • Forklift certification required.
  • Valid CDL license preferred.
  • Ability to analyze problems, determine root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to assess situations, prioritize tasks, and make timely, sound decisions.
  • Ability to recommend improvements that support business objectives.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment such as forklifts, trucks, and other yard machinery.
  • Knowledge of building materials and related procedures.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Regularly required to communicate effectively with employees, peers, and customers while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision.
  • Work environment noise levels are frequently noisy.
  • Occasionally exposed to outdoor conditions and dust.
  • Frequently required to walk and occasionally sit.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an orderly and organized yard.
  • Ensure security and control of materials entering and leaving the yard.
  • Maintain knowledge of products stored in the yard.
  • Follow and enforce all safety procedures.
  • Inspect equipment, loads, and material handling practices to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Maintain product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
  • Resolve customer concerns, including complaints and warranty issues.
  • Provide daily work direction and assign tasks effectively.
  • Monitor performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Train employees on loading, unloading, delivery procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Reinforce customer service standards and company procedures.
  • Assist with performance evaluations, hiring, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Supervise and train drivers on safe driving and delivery practices.
