This position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining work sites, restrooms, and exterior areas of offices, shops, and other occupied areas in accordance with contract requirements. The Lead Worker will assign and oversee the work of personnel within their area of responsibility. This role involves performing daily inspections of assigned areas, including outside buildings, making independent decisions, and ensuring all necessary corrections are made. The Lead Worker will seek support from next-level management as necessary to ensure services are performed in accordance with contract requirements and company policy. Specific responsibilities may include orienting new employees, explaining duties, conducting familiarization tours, assigning worksheets, and indoctrinating employees on procedures for reporting and responding to fires, hazardous conditions, and items requiring immediate repair. The role also ensures personnel are trained in safe and up-to-date cleaning procedures, completes work schedules, makes assignments, follows up on work performance, ensures time motion forms are completed daily, and adheres to company rules and regulations. The Lead Worker is responsible for ensuring the company-issued pager is carried and operational, that all buildings and assigned vehicles are secured, and that keys are controlled according to policy. They also ensure proper maintenance of assigned vehicles and that employees operate vehicles safely. Coordination with the supervisor on all matters related to project operation, including recommendations for hiring and addressing performance or conduct issues, is required. Scheduling periodic work with team members to ensure compliance with the performance work statement (PWS) and ensuring personal protective equipment is worn as required are also key duties. Daily inspections of assigned areas to ensure quality cleaning, prompt clearing of discrepancies, and notification to the supervisor of any closed or inaccessible buildings are necessary. Maintaining supply inventory, including proper labeling, stocking, and prompt ordering, is crucial. The Lead Worker must report operational problems beyond their ability to remedy, employee on-the-job accidents/incidents, and broken, unsafe, or faulty equipment to the supervisor promptly. Notification to the supervisor regarding customer complaints is also required. Additional responsibilities may include performing other duties as required to fulfill janitorial contract obligations or changes based on customer needs. Some positions may require using a computer for word processing with Microsoft Word and completing spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel.
