Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • USAF or equivalent Weapons formal military training required.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Level security clearance.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required
  • Recent experience at the craftsman level (7 level) (or equivalent) as a Weapons/Armament specialist (5 years within the last 7 years).
  • Must possess a comprehensive understanding of Weapons technical procedures.
  • Must possess knowledge and experience in technical, safety, and environmental issues involving Weapons maintenance.
  • Must possess a comprehensive understanding of Weapons technical procedures
  • Extensive knowledge of Weapons maintenance procedures, troubleshooting, technical publications, special tools, test equipment, and safety procedures required.
  • Weapons qualifications and munitions handling certifications as applicable.
  • Working knowledge of IMDS and other computer programs.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on M240D machine guns, flares and other associated equipment, mounts, squibs, CAD/PAD, and shop support items in accordance with Company Standard Operating Procedures and the PWS.
  • Direct/Performs cleaning and corrosion treatment on gun system, flare components.
  • Direct/removes and replaces aircraft installed weapons systems components and equipment.
  • Direct/removes and installs guns, flares.
  • Directs/perform flightline functions including preflight and postflight weapons requirements to include guard duties as directed.
  • Document all inspection and maintenance actions in aircraft forms and IMDS. Conducts personnel evaluations and task certifications.
  • Follows established armory and maintenance room security procedures.
  • Complies with flightline munitions accountability requirements IAW AFI 21-201.
  • Conduct weapons academy training IAW AFI 21-101 for Weapons Mechanics as needed.
  • Provides technical advice and assistance to weapons maintenance personnel and others.
  • Performs Red X and IPI inspections.
  • Directs other mechanics within his/her span of control.
  • Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.
  • Maintains hangar and grounds IAW Company and PWS requirements to include snow and weed removal.
  • Operates Ground Support Equipment.
  • Participates in FOD walks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
  • Supplies technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as schematics or manufactures’
  • Performs basic helicopter ground handling procedures such as towing, jacking, refuel/defuel as needed.
  • Willing to travel on occasion.
  • Weapons qualifications and munitions handling certifications as applicable.
