About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Wealth Underwriter for the Legal Specialty Group (LSG). This role involves analyzing complex financial and credit information for law firms, underwriting commercial loans with high aggregate credit exposure, and potentially managing a credit portfolio. The candidate will compile, analyze, and document loan data and credit risk, borrower, and property information. This position requires experience in financial analysis, underwriting, and structuring highly complex commercial banking relationships. As part of the Legal Specialty Group (LSG), the candidate will collaborate with Private Bankers and Regional Directors to provide custom credit solutions and ensure a positive client experience. The role demands knowledge of WIM Credit Policies and regulatory compliance requirements when serving commercial clients, specifically law firms. Independent judgment and minimal supervision are expected. Experience with legal documents, working with outside legal counsel, reviewing legal documents, and leading negotiations is mandatory. The candidate should excel in credit structuring and effectively communicate recommendations both verbally and in writing. Regular monitoring and servicing of the existing portfolio, including timely communication of findings and recommended solutions to management, is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Wealth Underwriting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Experience with legal documents and working with outside legal counsel; reviewing legal documents and leading negotiations is required.
  • Expected to excel in credit structuring and communicating recommendations verbally and in writing.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial accounting theory and logic, loan structuring, commercial products and services is needed for this role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • Must have top partnering skills; the ability to interpret and discuss analytical data; and the ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Proficient with computers and software applications (MSA, MS Excel, MS Word, other MS Office Suite applications, etc.) and applicable mainframe systems.
