About The Position

One of the most customer dissatisfying experiences as a vehicle owner is a part or system failure early in a vehicle’s life. As a Lead Warranty Performance Manager for RESS, you will be responsible for establishing the supplier’s shared warranty cost and financial recovery. Our efforts instantaneously impact General Motors bottom line. You will actively participate in developing strategies, negotiations, executing regional warranty budgets, and collaborating with the suppliers and stakeholders with a specific focus on Reserve Energy Storage Systems (RESS). This role involves a significant amount of initiative, analytical work, and independent judgment. Becoming a subject matter expert is a requirement of the role, either technical or commercial in nature. As a Lead Warranty Performance Manager, you would collaborate with other Warranty Performance personnel, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, Finance and other business stakeholders and Supply Base. You will engage in the crafting and execution of net warranty reduction and cost recovery strategies. The chosen candidate will be part of a team responsible for providing background information, creative approaches based on analyzed qualitative and quantitative data, thoughtful presentations, and innovative strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
  • 3-5+ years’ experience in commodity purchasing, supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, product development, Logistics or program/product management, or warranty.

  • Ability to travel 5% of the time domestically.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of OEM experience, including strategy development and supplier management.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Project management and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated individual willing to take the initiative to continuously improve practices and systems.
  • Experience with contracts/agreements.
  • SAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systems.
  • Battery manufacturing or purchasing knowledge.
  • Purchasing, engineering, quality or manufacturing, warranty background.
  • Knowledge of materials management.
  • CQI-14 Automotive Warranty Management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Strategizes and executes net warranty reduction and cost recovery activities from initiation through case closure.
  • Analyzes issues, develops strategy, and obtains cross-functional alignment.
  • Functions as liaison between Purchasing, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Internal Product Investigations, Manufacturing, and suppliers to drive net warranty reduction and recover costs related to field actions, OWT, and General Warranty.
  • Defines cost recovery strategy, obtains cross-functional alignment with key stakeholders, and leads execution for RESS.
  • Functions as liaison with Suppliers to drive a firm GM position on supplier responsibility for warranty, to facilitate cost recovery settlement from suppliers.
  • Leads cross-functional activities with Engineering and QRD teams and engages Purchasing where commercial engagement and discussion is required.
  • Helps remove roadblocks and escalates as needed.
  • Communicates status of cost recovery results.
  • Supports transaction maintenance activities within PartLink.
  • Interacts with leadership including: advising, updating, and communicating status on key items, achievements, and issues.
  • Builds and maintains relationships internally and externally.
  • Exhibits a strategic, forward-thinking mindset.
  • Anticipates risk and opportunities throughout the process.
  • Communicates clearly through standalone presentations, leadership reviews, team meetings and 1:1 discussions with senior leaders.
