About The Position

This role assists, coordinates, and delivers service for catered events at Boston College, ensuring timely and professional customer service. The position requires the ability to lift moderately heavy objects.

Requirements

• High school diploma preferred; additional relevant experience may substitute for education.
• NRA ServSafe alcohol certification and MRA Allergen certification required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an a la carte, high volume, continental style restaurant or hotel performing customer service-oriented tasks.
• Supervisory experience in a similar organization is preferred.
• Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced operation with a diverse staff.
• Understanding of all aspects of hotel-style banquet service.
• Excellent human relations skills.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Ability to lift moderately heavy objects, up to 50 pounds, on an ongoing basis.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine wait staff duties including setting tables, serving customers, side work, and post-event breakdown and reset.
• Assists in coordinating events under management direction.
• Works effectively with staffing levels for events.
• Assists with wait staff training.
• May be assigned to other dining units.
• May monitor and assist in the evaluation of service staff and system.
• May monitor and assist in the evaluation of banquet room and equipment condition.
• Performs cleaning and sanitation functions.
• Checks service equipment for proper operation and cleanliness.
• Monitors presentation and portioning of food.
• Checks and inventories supplies for proper levels.
• Works a flexible schedule to meet customer and operational needs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
