About The Position

Cansel Group is seeking a seasoned, execution-driven Lead Visual Designer to anchor their in-house creative team. This senior production role requires a designer capable of managing projects from brief to delivery, ensuring brand consistency across a diverse portfolio, and mentoring junior designers. The role involves producing high-quality marketing assets for five business units (Cansel Group, Cansel, BuildingPoint Canada, Trinitec, and CSDS) across various channels, including email, print, web, and social media. The primary goal is to deliver production-ready creative that is brand-accurate, timely, and meets high-quality standards from the outset. The Lead Visual Designer will work closely with the Visual Designer and Creative Supervisor, making independent creative decisions within established brand guidelines and serving as the first line of quality assurance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a graphic design, visual design, or equivalent production role
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite - Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, and Premiere (or equivalent video platform)
  • Strong command of design across all key marketing channels: email, web, social, print, and video
  • Proven ability to apply and maintain brand systems with precision across multiple brand identities simultaneously
  • Production-ready file discipline - knowledge of bleed, colour profiles, asset sizing, and format optimization
  • Mentorship experience or demonstrated willingness to lead - patient, constructive, invested in others’ growth
  • Excellent project management instincts - ability to manage own pipeline, flag issues early, and hit deadlines
  • Post-secondary education in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field
  • Portfolio demonstrating breadth across print, digital, social, and email

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in B2B, technology, construction, or multi-brand/agency environments
  • Motion design, basic animation, or social video production skills
  • Familiarity with project management tools (Monday.com, Asana, or similar)
  • Proficiency with AI design tools (Adobe Firefly, Canva AI) for production efficiency
  • Bilingual English/French - a genuine asset given Cansel’s national presence

Responsibilities

  • Own complex design projects end-to-end – from creative brief through to final, production-ready delivery across email, print, web, social, and video.
  • Produce high-quality marketing assets across all 5 Cansel Group business units - email campaigns, lead gen forms, trade show materials, e-commerce visuals, brochures, publications, internal materials, and vehicle fleet graphics.
  • Apply brand guidelines with precision and consistency, particularly across multi-brand outputs where accuracy matters more than speed.
  • Manage production file organization and handoff standards - clean, organized asset libraries the broader team can utilize.
  • Contribute to priority improvement areas: e-commerce product detail pages (PDPs), social media visual quality, and branch design consistency.
  • Lead and mentor the Visual Designer – provide clear direction, constructive feedback, and day-to-day guidance without formal management authority.
  • Review and quality-check the Visual Designer’s output before it escalates to the Creative Supervisor - acting as the first line of creative review.
  • Support the Visual Designer’s skills development through regular collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
  • Help triage and distribute incoming work requests in coordination with the Creative Supervisor.
  • Make independent creative decisions within established brand direction.
  • Collaborate primarily within the internal creative team, escalating to the Creative Supervisor for final approval.
  • Participate in creative reviews and team check-ins, raising production or capacity concerns.
