About The Position

Colony Park Animal Hospital is seeking a highly organized and inspiring Lead Veterinary Assistant to join our team. As our Lead VA you will guide and mentor fellow veterinary assistants through training, managing the flow of appointments, and facilitating education opportunities. You will work closely with our leadership team to provide efficient work-flow patterns, staff feedback, and meet hospital goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of experience working as a Veterinary Assistant, with exceptional knowledge of animal handling and clinical procedures in a General Practice setting.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for mentorship and teamwork.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced veterinary hospital environment with a strong focus on patient care.
  • Basic computer proficiency for record keeping and communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Practice Manager and Lead DVM to support daily operations of the hospital.
  • Assist with staffing coordination and daily workflow processes to support patient care and client needs.
  • Mentor team members through training, onboarding, and developing skills.
  • Support performance conversations, coaching, and team development initiatives
  • Collaborate with doctors and hospital leadership to maintain an efficient, positive work environment.
  • Oversee and perform equipment maintenance, inventory of treatment and anesthesia departments to ensure the team has the resources needed to provide excellent care.
  • Collaborate solutions with team members and leadership in real time while maintaining a strong floor presence.
  • Provide hands-on nursing care to patients throughout their visit
  • Triage patients and support efficient patient flow
  • Administer vaccines and medications as directed by our veterinarians.
  • Perform phlebotomy and laboratory sample collection/processing
  • Assist veterinarians in monitoring sedated and anesthetized patients for procedures.
  • Support diagnostics including imaging, laboratory equipment, and patient monitoring.
  • Deliver compassionate patient care and exceptional client communication.
