About The Position

ADESA, a Carvana owned company, operates over 50 locations across the US, providing a wide array of vehicle services including repair, reconditioning, and auction remarketing. Many sites also serve as market hub distribution centers, handling a vast inventory of vehicles. The company is poised for significant expansion, with investments in facilities, sales growth, and inventory. This role reports to the Transportation Manager, Lot Manager, or a designated manager. The Lead Van Driver is responsible for operating motor vehicles on and off auction premises to support auction activities, including transporting and directing Drivers to move, stage, and park vehicles. The position requires adherence to company policies, procedures, and state/federal laws.

Requirements

Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
Must be qualified to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license.
Ability to work in all weather conditions is required.
Must have a demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Ability to read English and/or comprehend motor vehicle traffic signs required.
Must be insured and/or insurable if required by the state.
Must have the ability to physically operate vehicle equipment and tools.
Must submit to and pass controlled substance investigation and testing in accordance with company policy.
Must not be under the influence of any condition or substance that could distract or impair the ability to safely and efficiently operate a motor vehicle.
Must not have a motor vehicle record or criminal record that does not meet the minimum standards set by company policy.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Hiring is contingent on passing a complete background check.

Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service, ensuring prompt, efficient, and courteous service.
Demonstrate friendliness and proper etiquette with every customer.
Maintain a professional appearance and work area.
Handle customer complaints or disputes by resolving them in a friendly, courteous manner and advising the designated manager of all complaints or incidences.
Operate motor vehicles in a safe, efficient, conservative, cautious, and courteous manner.
Immediately report all mechanical problems experienced with vehicles to the designated manager.
Immediately report to the supervisor or designated manager anything that may jeopardize the ability to physically or legally operate a motor vehicle, including all driving-related incidents (traffic citations, warnings, accidents).
Maintain and assure good operating condition of all equipment and facilities.
Maintain work area and conditions to ensure a safe environment for all employees and customers.
Respond to and follow proper company policy procedures involving accidents, injuries, and loss or damage to any property, reporting all incidents to the designated manager or supervisor immediately.
Advise the designated manager of all breakdowns and maintenance needs immediately.
Practice and promote teamwork, setting a good example of attitude and performance.

Transport Auction Drivers on and off auction premises for transport, pickup, and delivery in support of auction activities.
Assign Auction Drivers to a lot area on or off property to move, stage, and park vehicles.
Instruct Auction Drivers on the positioning of vehicles as assigned by the designated manager.
