Lead UX Designer

HR Acuity LLCRemote,
$136,200 - $240,740Remote

About The Position

HR Acuity is looking for a Lead UX Designer to set the design vision for our Product organization and lead a team of talented designers and researchers. You'll shape how our design system evolves, stay hands-on with the highest-impact work, and make sure every product experience reflects a deep understanding of the ER professionals, managers, and employees we build for. This is a remote opportunity - must be US based. HR Acuity® is the leading provider of employee relations case management and investigation software. We help organizations standardize how workplace issues are reported, documented, and investigated, and our data-driven approach helps clients and partners build trusted, inclusive cultures where employees feel safe. This is an #All-In Zone. We're a fast-growing, innovative company led by a female founder and CEO, and being all-in is the norm here. From the top down, we bring our best every day — fueled by passion for our mission and culture — and we look for teammates who want to do the same. At the same time, we're deeply committed to an inclusive, diverse workplace where different perspectives are valued and respected. We believe in creating an environment where everyone can show up as their authentic self and thrive.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of UX or product design experience, including 2+ years leading, mentoring, or managing designers, ideally in a B2B SaaS platform environment
  • Proven experience building, deploying, and maintaining a design system at scale, and driving its adoption across cross-functional teams
  • Expert-level proficiency with Figma, including hands-on experience with Figma's AI tools and a point of view on how AI can accelerate the design workflow
  • Demonstrable experience designing for complex workflows in B2B or B2C SaaS products, across web, native, and mobile-first approaches
  • Strong command of user-centric design strategy, UX principles, interaction design, and usability techniques
  • Experience partnering with UX research — or running research yourself — to inform and validate design decisions
  • A track record of setting design direction and standards in an agile, fast-moving environment
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and data-presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong attention to detail paired with the judgment to know when to prioritize speed
  • A collaborative, humble leadership style that lifts up the people around you
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, dynamic environment
  • A creative problem-solver who brings a clear point of view and a bias toward shipping

Responsibilities

  • Set and communicate the overall UX design strategy for the product, aligning it with the company vision and product roadmap
  • Maintain HR Acuity's Design System in tight collaboration with engineering — components, patterns, tokens, guidelines, and documentation — and drive its adoption across design and engineering
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of three UX Designers and one UX Researcher, setting clear expectations, giving thoughtful feedback, and supporting their development
  • Stay hands-on: personally design wireframes, mockups, interaction specs, and functional prototypes for high-impact and complex work
  • Deeply understand the needs of our customers — their ER professionals, managers, and employees — and translate those needs into user-centric designs
  • Partner with the UX Researcher to plan and act on concept and usability testing, turning customer feedback into design decisions
  • Establish and uphold UX standards, review the team's work, and ensure consistency and quality across every product offering
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering to develop new products and features, from early concept through delivery
  • Present design work and rationale to stakeholders and leadership, using day-in-the-life stories to bring the experience to life
  • Balance short-term fixes with the long-term design vision, making pragmatic trade-offs without losing sight of the roadmap
  • Champion accessibility and inclusive design across the product, and own the relationship with our accessibility vendor
  • Keep current with competitor products, design tooling, and industry trends, including emerging AI-assisted design capabilities
