About The Position

The Lead Unreal Developer & Experiential Application Architect is responsible for designing and delivering interactive storytelling applications that power PTC’s Experiential Demo Platform (XDP). These applications translate complex product capabilities into engaging, intuitive experiences used by technical evangelists, sales teams, marketers in Experience Centers and at global events. This role sits at the intersection of technical development, storytelling, and customer engagement—enabling audiences ranging from deep technical stakeholders to executive buyers to explore PTC’s solutions through immersive, real-time applications. The role combines hands-on Unreal Engine development with project leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous innovation in experiential storytelling. This position plays a critical role in scaling XDP as a standardized platform across demos, events, and customer engagements.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in Unreal Engine for real-time application development and rendering
  • Experience with C++ and scripting for interactive systems and logic implementation
  • Deep understanding of UI/UX design for interactive storytelling applications
  • Ability to integrate 2D and 3D assets, animation systems, and video playback into cohesive experiences
  • Experience building interactive navigation systems (e.g., story selection, data flow visualization, animation triggers)
  • Familiarity with version control systems and development workflows (e.g., Git-based collaboration)
  • Ability to optimize performance across hardware configurations used in Experience Centers and events
  • Understanding of real-time graphics constraints and rendering trade-offs

  • Experience developing interactive demo platforms or experiential marketing applications
  • Background in game development, simulation, or real-time visualization
  • Exposure to video production and editing workflows, including integration of video into interactive applications
  • Familiarity with AI-driven content or highlighting AI capabilities within user experiences

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of interactive applications using Unreal Engine for XDP
  • Build real-time, visually compelling experiences that combine 2D/3D assets, animations, and video content
  • Translate complex product workflows and data flows into intuitive, story-driven interactive experiences
  • Develop reusable frameworks and baseline projects for future demo scalability
  • Design application flows that guide users through structured use cases and customer journeys
  • Enable both high-level executive narratives and deeper technical exploration within the same application
  • Continuously iterate on UI/UX to improve presenter and audience experience based on live feedback from events and Experience Centers
  • Ensure applications clearly highlight key product value, including emerging capabilities such as AI features
  • Serve as project manager for XDP application development, coordinating resources, timelines, and deliverables
  • Lead regular development stand-ups, track progress, and prioritize feature development and bug fixes
  • Manage cross-functional collaboration across design, video production, engineering, and content teams
  • Drive MVP definition and phased delivery while balancing technical complexity and delivery timelines
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve development efficiency and output quality
  • Introduce new interaction models (e.g., physical props, sensor-driven inputs, touchscreen navigation) to enhance engagement
  • Experiment with visual techniques (e.g., real-time rendering, color manipulation, animation systems) to optimize fidelity and performance
  • Support deployment and optimization of XDP applications across trade shows and Experience Centers
  • Resolve usability, hardware, and performance issues observed in live environments (e.g., touchscreen responsiveness, visibility, playback control)
  • Ensure applications are robust, adaptable, and capable of functioning across varying physical setups
