About The Position

As a Lead Turbine Specialist, you are the on-shift technical authority for turbine operations. You direct and coordinate the activities of crew members during your shift setting the tone for safety, quality, and operational excellence. The Lead Turbine Specialist brings a senior-level command of turbine systems, serve as the primary escalation point for complex field issues, and are trusted to make real-time decisions that keep equipment running safely and efficiently. This role demands both technical depth and natural leadership: you will guide crews, interface with customers on-site, and serve as a critical bridge between field operations and management.

  • 6+ year of gas turbine controls/instrumentation/electrical experience required
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status

  • Prior experience as a Senior Turbine Specialist or equivalent role strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-shift lead for operations, coordinating task assignments, work sequencing, and crew readiness at the start of each shift.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for crew members during the shift; provide real-time direction, guidance, and technical support.
  • Monitor crew workload and performance throughout the shift, stepping in to assist or redirect as needed to maintain operational tempo and safety standards.
  • Conduct pre-shift and post-shift briefings to communicate priorities, review safety considerations, and document shift activities and handoff notes.
  • Escalate personnel concerns, equipment issues, and operational anomalies to management in a timely and factual manner.
  • Lead complex troubleshooting efforts for turbine systems using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to resolve issues efficiently and minimize downtime.
  • Analyze turbine performance data in real time to identify anomalies, trends, and opportunities for improvement; take corrective action within shift authority.
  • Maintain expert-level working knowledge of turbine controls, instrumentation, and electrical systems; serve as the crew's on-shift subject matter expert.
  • Drive adherence to maintenance schedules and standard operating procedures across all crew members during the shift.
  • Develop and communicate long-term maintenance strategies and input to engineering teams based on field observations.
  • Champion a culture of safety on every shift, lead by example in all safety practices, job hazard analyses, and stop-work authority decisions.
  • Ensure the crew maintains full compliance with all regulatory, safety, and environmental standards; conduct field-level safety observations and intervene immediately when unsafe conditions are identified.
  • Verify that all work performed during the shift meets quality standards before sign-off and shift handoff.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed shift logs, equipment records, and maintenance documentation for all activities performed during the shift.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise shift handoff reports to the oncoming lead and management team.
  • Actively mentor Turbine Specialists and junior technicians on shift, sharing technical knowledge, field experience, and professional best practices.
  • Identify skill gaps within the crew and provide on-the-job coaching, knowledge transfer, and hands-on training to support team growth.
  • Model the behaviors and technical standards expected of all crew members, reinforcing a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
