About The Position

This role involves adhering to Integer's values, safety, environmental, security, and quality requirements. The Lead Toolmaker will study specifications from CAD models, blueprints, sketches, or tool descriptions to plan and construct tooling. They will operate various tool room equipment at a high level of competency, including CNC mills, EDMs, surface grinders, manual mills, lathes, and hand tools. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing tooling, constructing and repairing tools, dies, jigs, gauges, and fixtures to close tolerances, and staying updated on new technology. The role also involves participating in problem-solving, providing input for process/product evaluations, making recommendations for work instructions, reporting equipment issues, and ordering supplies. Additionally, the Lead Toolmaker may verify attendance in the supervisor's absence and perform other assigned duties. This position also includes leadership responsibilities such as coordinating other Toolmakers, reporting progress and metrics, leading projects, and mentoring technicians. The role encourages personal and professional growth through training and cross-training, and providing support and guidance to other departments. The Lead Toolmaker is expected to drive improvements in product and process quality, identify and escalate quality non-conformances, and adhere to the company's quality management system (QMS) and core beliefs.

Requirements

High School graduate or equivalent education may be required
8-10 years of related experience.
Journeymen certification/paperwork also may be required.
Strong leadership and mechanical aptitude with the ability to apply it in operating tool room equipment.
Demonstrated competency at the master level as defined by the National Institute of Metalworking Skills(NIMS).
Ability to read, interpret and understand blueprints.
Strong computer operation skills.
Ability to motivate others

Nice To Haves

associate degree or bachelor’s degree in area of technical expertise preferred.
Basic TIG or Tool room welding are a plus.

Responsibilities

Adheres to Integer’s Values and all safety, environmental, security and quality requirements including, but not limited to: Quality Management Systems (QMS), Safety, Environmental and Security Management Systems, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, company policies and operating procedures, and other regulatory requirements.
Studies specifications from CAD models, blueprints, sketches or tool descriptions and plans sequence of operation to construct.
Operates tool room equipment at a high level of competency which may include, but is also not limited to: CNC mill, CNC Electrical Discharge Machines (EDMs), manual and/or wire EDMs, surface grinders, manual mills, manual lathes, drill presses, and array of hand tools.
Troubleshoots and repairs a variety of stages of tooling.
Plans, constructs, and repairs a variety of tool, dies, jigs, gauges and fixtures to close tolerances.
Demonstrates high-level expertise and experience with equipment.
Stays abreast of new and developing technology required for position in order to account for any possible changes.
Participates in problem solving and provides input for process/product evaluations for continuous improvement.
Makes recommendations to existing work instructions to improve quality, clarity, and/or efficiency.
Reports equipment issues to appropriate resources for resolution.
Orders supplies and materials.
May verify attendance within the timekeeping system in Supervisor’s absence.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Coordinates the activities of other Toolmakers.
Reports progress and metrics to management.
Leads projects and mentor other technicians.
Expands skill base through on-the-job training, cross training, and classroom instruction.
Trains personnel in proper techniques to utilize systems, equipment, and processes.
Provides support/guidance, data, and analysis to other departments.
Supports performance reviews and talent calibration processes.
Continually seeks to drive improvements in product and process quality and identifies and escalates quality non-conformances to assist in achieving company quality objectives and key business metrics.
