About The Position

Carlson Tool & Manufacturing Corp. is seeking an experienced Tool Maker with a desire to lead and mentor others to join their team of skilled Machinists and Toolmakers. The role involves the design, build, refurbishment, and reverse engineering of plastic injection molds for various industries. The Lead Tool Maker will guide projects, provide hands-on direction, and mentor apprentices, collaborating with a supportive team in advanced manufacturing facilities.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience as a Journeyman Tool & Die Maker is required.
• Proven expertise in Plastic Injection Molds is required.
• The ability to train and mentor others is required.
• The ability to read, interpret, and analyze engineering designs and CAD models.

Responsibilities

• Play a key role in the design, build, refurbishment, and reverse engineering of plastic injection molds.
• Guide projects through the shop without the need to write plans or purchase material.
• Focus on toolmaking while providing hands-on direction to fellow Tool Makers and mentoring apprentices.
• Collaborate with project leader(s) and direct the team of Tool Makers.
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and hands-on training to apprentices and team members.
• Analyze specifications, set up and operate machine tools, and fit/assemble components to fabricate and repair metalworking dies.
• Lead plastic injection mold builds from start to finish.
• Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized.
