Position Overview The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. This role includes classroom leadership, lesson planning, mentoring support staff, maintaining strong parent communication, and fostering a positive classroom culture rooted in Montessori-inspired learning and play-based education. Our Lead Teachers are nurturing, organized, dependable, and passionate about early childhood education.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • CPR & First Aid Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience in childcare, preschool, Montessori, or early childhood education preferred
  • Degree or coursework in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field preferred
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to maintain a positive, organized, and professional classroom environment
  • Passion for working with children and making a difference
  • Reliable transportation required

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement engaging weekly lesson plans and classroom activities
  • Create a warm, safe, and stimulating learning environment
  • Lead classroom routines, transitions, and daily schedules
  • Maintain positive communication with families through Procare and daily interactions
  • Support children’s social, emotional, and developmental growth
  • Mentor and guide assistant teachers and support staff
  • Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, and supplies
  • Participate in trainings, meetings, school events, and professional development
  • Support school-wide initiatives, policies, and quality standards
  • Collaborate closely with leadership and fellow educators
